Bitcoin security has a scary reputation it does not deserve. You do not need to be a cryptographer. You need three habits, each taking less than ten minutes to set up.
Habit one: back up the recovery phrase
Every wallet gives you a recovery phrase — a dozen or two ordinary words. Those words are your coins in another form. Write them on paper, twice, and store the copies in two different places. Never photograph them, never email them, never read them aloud on a support call. Real support will never ask for them.
Habit two: lock every door twice
Turn on two-factor authentication everywhere it is offered — your exchange account and your email first. An authenticator app beats text messages, which can be intercepted. This single step defeats the vast majority of account takeovers.

Habit three: right-size your storage
Spending money can live in a mobile wallet; savings belong somewhere harder to reach — a hardware wallet or our vault storage. Match the security to the amount, the way you would not carry your life savings in your jeans pocket.
Do these three things and you are already safer than most. Security is not a product you buy once; it is a posture you keep — calmly, boringly, and forever in your favor.
